Birth Doula

Prenatal and Birth Day Support

I am a formally DONA-certified doula, and currently pursing my birth and bereavement doula training through Stillbirthday.  At this time I am accepting birth doula clients in The Woodlands, Magnolia, Spring, and Conroe.   Please contact me if you’d like to know if I’m available for your area.

Blissful Beginnings Doula Care provides support to Mom and Dad during the prenatal period, usually beginning in the second or third trimester (but no time is too late!).  I will provide opportunities to meet in-person on one to two occasions for about two hours each time, but prefer to meet at least one time before the birth.  I encourage email communication as often as desired, and also accept phone calls or text messages during regular business hours.  I can help prepare a birth plan, discuss options for birth, provide resources for educational purposes, and answer questions.  I also encourage my clients to prepare a postpartum plan to help ensure proper communication between Mom and Dad and make sure all needs are being met.

I will be on-call 24/7 for Mom two weeks before her due date until Baby is born.  Depending on locations and individual wants or needs, we will decide whether to meet at the birth center or at home during labor.

During labor I will provide physical support, emotional support, and informational support.  I will not speak for Mom, but will encourage her to ask questions if she’s unsure about an unplanned procedure or intervention.  I will not replace Mom’s partner, but will help him or her to feel comfortable about everything that’s going on.

I will provide around two hours of postpartum support, including breastfeeding help.

Up to three weeks after the birth, I will make a home visit to check in and discuss adjustments to motherhood, at Mom’s request and convenience.

If Mom would like a birth story written from my perspective, I would be honored to write one!

I will do my best to offer support in the way that Mom wants from me.

I don’t offer specific “packages” to clients, instead I offer everything I am capable of to every Mother who hires me.  I take one client per month, and therefore I am able to support Moms more fully with my time and resources than if I had a bigger client load.  My fee is $900.   I will consider offering a reduced rate to Mothers who are in need, teen Mothers who are unsupported, or any one else who feels they cannot pay my full fee.  I wholeheartedly believe in the saying, “A doula for every woman who wants one!”  Please check my online birth availability calendar (I keep this updated!) to see if your due date is available!
